AURUMBA aka 'Crinkle'
AURUMBA 16.2hh Palomino Thoroughbred born 30th April 2008 by RFF The Alchemist out of Samba Beat by Efisio
We have officially named Crinkle with Weatherby's as 'Aurumba'. Aurum means gold in Latin and the rumba beat is similar to the samba.
See below Horse and Hound news 24th July 2008 ,.. page 7
AURUMBA achieved a 1st Premium as a yearling at the BEF Futurity at Plumpton 2009.
We are very proud that not only is he 'special' because of his colour but the Futurity Vet and Evaluators have assessed his conformation, paces and temperament and awarded him a 1st Premium as an Eventer.
His dam is a winning racemare from a strong damline, so his future career could either be as a racehorse or an eventer...watch this space!
NEWS.....AUGUST 2010
We have decided Crinkle deserves a chance to be a Racehorse :-)
After carefully choosing we have decided to send him into training with Pat Phelan from Ermyn Lodge Stables in Epsom.
Pat a brilliant allround horsemen..he competed Internationally in Eventing and Show Jumping in his youth before he successfully turned to training racehorses and breeding.
Our visit to Ermyn Lodge, owned by Tony and Lesley Smith, was as I had hoped :-) .....all the horses were happy and chilled, in their stables and when going to, on, and from the gallops at Epsom Racecourse.
It was obvious that all the horses were well cared for and it showed :-)
I have every faith in Pat and his team of dedicated staff, that Crinkle will be well cared for and that if he isn't suited to the racing life then he will come home and try another career.
He is due to go for Pre-Training mid October and I will of course keep his page updated and take lots of pics :-)
UPDATE: Crinkle went into Pre-training at Ermyn Lodge and behaved perfectly, doing whatever was asked of him....a star pupil! We felt he wasn't quite fast enough to win over a shorter distance and but would run over a longer distance or hurdles when more mature. We decided to bring him home to mature and make a decision whether to run him over hurdles or train him as an Event horse. Although we would have loved to have seen him running in a hurdle race, it would have been with our hands over our eyes...so the decision was to keep him safe but still do an exciting job....he will go eventing :)
NEWS NOVEMBER 2012
Crinkle is now training to be an Event horse! He is in Devon with Team Bleekman. We are looking forward to seeing him competed by the young and talented Althea Bleekman in the future.
